Six Nation State at the Engine Room

Six Nation State at the Engine Room
Published 23rd Oct 2006 by Kairen

Monday 6th November Family Entertainments present Six Nation State @ Engine Room.

A marriage between the Zutons and The Futureheads is said to produce the sound of Six Nation State according to Drowned in Sound. As scary as that sounds they create really raunchy pop with crashing guitars a hint of Tex Mex that is great to dance to and their performances are delightfully cartoonish with added up and down guitar action. Their latest single ‘Fire’ is released on 6th November and has already been playlisted by XFM. For a great party atmosphere you cannot miss Six Nation State and to quote their track expect to ‘Keep on Dancing’! + Ox.

SixNationState write songs with guts, with melody, with passion and heart but above all else, they write and they play like their future depends on it.  An attack of vocal harmonies and tribal sea shanty shouts are punctured by soul stripping, sand-papered cries as the band pound out infectious rhythms and hooks. Their influences may be many and varied but at the belly of this commotion, SixNationState’s sound is 100% punk from conception to delivery.

Nothing holds this band back and individual concern is cancelled out by collective optimism everytime. It’s not so much a case of this is all they’ve ever wanted to do, this is all they have ever done. They live together, they play together, they will rise together and I suspect they will fall together.
