Monkey Island transport you to the murky waters of swampland Louisiana, stopping at any vacant garage along the way and allowing the ghost of Jeffrey Lee Pierce to hitch a ride for added psychobabble. Raw, and walking an engaging tightrope that could see them teeter into spontaneous combustion on one side and Tequila fueled coma on the other. F***ed up without the pretence.

The Gin Palace
The Gin Palace is a new three-piece Rock ‘n’ Roll band from London.
It's a 3 piece - lady singer, no bass guitar, no hi-hats.
Heavy Rock'n'Garage-a-Billy with lotsa funny time-changes. Blues rhythms with chromosones missing. Jazz-Cramps? Big Boss Twang-Power! Singer doesn't sound like Patti, Courtney, or PJ, either... (Quite similar to Royal Trux though - ed.)
Line-up includes Jon Free, previously from Penthouse (www.fiftytons.co.uk) on guitar, with Stuart Bell of Girls Without Skin on drums.
