Sputnik Vodka And Juice 107.2fm Present Bar Wars
Published 4th May 2005 by Obviously Media
Continuing their pioneering, inter-galactic mission to spread the message of the finest vodka in the world, the people behind Sputnik vodka have teamed up with Juice 107.2FM to present an inter-bar cocktail competition to surpass all others.
Starting in May, and over a period of 3 months, there will be a selection of heats for Brighton and Hove?s most talented bartenders to get their creative juices flowing to develop a brand new bespoke Sputnik vodka based cocktail. Whether cool, refreshing and long or short, fast and fiery ? Sputnik provides an ideal base for a variety of cocktails ? now it?s just up to the glitterati of Brighton?s cocktail classes to let their imaginations run wild.
The results of these mental meanderings will be available to taste in participating venues prior to the battles of the blends, the 1st of which is scheduled for the end of May.
Winners from each heat will then be invited to take place in the Summer grand finale. The overall winner will receive an all expenses paid VIP trip to sample the genuine Russian experience (in Russia obviously!) and a thorough insight into the culture that spawned Sputnik vodka.
Russian flavoured vodka has not always been available to the masses - it was traditionally the privilege of noble families. In mid-18th-century Russia, Empress Catherine the Second, who was biased toward society?s elite, granted the land-owning aristocracy the exclusive right to distil spirits. Thus excluding the masses from a distinct part of their heritage.
Vodka is a part of Russian culture and social life ? in the words of Sputnik Marketing Director Lenny Musatov ??there is much more to vodka drinking than simply getting a buzz. Vodka is a huge part of socialisation in Russian culture ? think of it as ?tea time? Russki style.?
Sputnik vodka intends to bring the aristocratic nature of its product to the refined and delicate nature of British style mixology.
let the bar wars begin ?
