St. George?s Day Beer Festival
Published 13th Apr 2004 by Laura Creasey

The Duke of Beaufort, Brighton. 23 ?25 April 2004

Brighton needs few excuses for a knees-up and now that St. Paddy?s Day is over it?s nice to know there is another saint requiring a celebration on the horizon. This St. George?s Day (Friday 23rd April) - and throughout the weekend - you can show your appreciation for England?s under-celebrated, dragon-slaying patron saint by sinking a few pints at the Beer Festival hosted by the Beaufort Arms pub in Hanover. A heated outside bar will serve a menu of cockles, mussels and jellied eels plus Cumberland sausages and mash washed down with a wide selection of traditional ales including ?Old Bob?, ?Perfick?, ?Frolic?, ?Fine & Dandy?, ?Black Bull? and ?Broadside?. For every pint of real ale you buy, you will receive a ticket if drawn at the end of each night could win you a gallon of real ale. Quintessential English pop music from all eras will provide the soundtrack for the proceedings on Friday evening with a Grand Draw at 11.30pm of prizes and giveaways. Proceeds from the day will go in support of the Trevor Mann Baby Unit. Saturday evening?s entertainment will be a traditional cockney knees-up, courtesy of the Billy Jones Duo (think Chaz and Dave). On Sunday, the Festival kegs will be out for the last time to accompany live Premiership Football.

Festival timings are as follows:
Friday 23rd : 6pm ? 12midnight
Saturday 24th : 12noon ? 11pm
Sunday 25th : 12noon ? 10.30pm
