Stick It On Bank Holiday All Day Special - Sunday 24th May @ King And Queen

Stick It On Bank Holiday All Day Special - Sunday 24th May @ King And Queen
Published 15th May 2009 by Stick It On

We hope those who attended our Easter Event had a suitably enjoyably good time. Its now only a couple of weeks until Stick It On unleash the next installment of bank holiday celebrations upon you, here's some of what you can expect...

May is a month that promises a lot; it begins with a bank holiday, continues with the festival taking up residence in our fair city and builds towards the fantastic crescendo of another bank holiday which signals, not only, the official beginning of summer but the second Stick It On bank holiday all-dayer of the year. The line-up for the event has been lovingly crafted to ensure maximum pleasure for all attendees, particularly as this will be Stick It On’s final soiree at the King and Queen before New Year’s Eve as they’ve moved up the hill to Beachdown Festival for the August bank holiday; please read on to discover the delights on offer.

We are pleased to welcome back a dear good friend of ours and thoroughly decent chap Mr. B - The Gentleman Rhymer.  On a one-man mission to introduce Hip-Hop to the Queen's English, Mr. B is delighted to present Chap-Hop. Having spent the best part of a decade bringing some manners back to popular culture, this dopest of fellows will entertain and amuse you with his ingenious stylings. Aiming to dazzle with dignity, Mr. B takes to the stage with his Banjolele and stiff upper lip to perform ditties of pipe-smoking, high society, cricket and sexual misadventure, as well as some more well-known pieces from the world of Hip-Hop, re-worked in true Chap-Hop fashion. Click here to visit his MySpace.

We at SIO are always keen to mix it up with regards the entertainment but sometimes we come across an act or artist that really hits the mark in terms of representing the ethos of Stick It On. We have found no one better to represent our fun loving attitude and that is why we are happy to ask him and his merry band back to this year’s event. The crew that have previously brought you the incomprable Cuban Brothers bring the legendary Barry Peters; Halifax Hospital radio DJ extraordinaire. Barry will be coming straight down from his residency at Zany's Niteclub in Skipton and will wow you with a flamboyant discography of timeless tunes.  By his side as ever will be his son Kevin who will be pulling off some stunning dance routines and you will soon come to realise that the old skool entertainer is far from dead. The live show is a combination of sharp witted anecdote, classic party rocking 80’s tunes and Flashdancer fever moves and grooves. As the story unfolds, Barry orchestrates a dance troupe with Kevin and his pals – limp wrested disco champion J.J Jones and mysterious oriental eye-candy Derek Japan. The act, Triple Threat sends the crowd wild at every Zany’s Entertainment gig – unleashing their camp but sharp contemporary dance routines to awestruck audiences. For more info please Click here.

We are always on the look out for good party Dj's who unselfishly  are more worried about what the crowd want to hear rather putting them first instead of themselves.  No better example are our good mates Duncan Turner and Jonny Bain had been throwing parties and generally larking about the London scene, and beyond, for several years before their like-minded ear for a great tune (no matter what genre) and their search for the ultimate knees-up-mother-brown brought them together – and Sombrero Sound System was born. The years since have seen them rock numerous parties across the globe and become resident DJs for Sunday Best and Bestival. click here to find out more...

BBQ duties are handed to resident Rasta Kush  from Reggae, steady, cook who will be serving a selection the Caribbean’s finest and will ensure that those who arrive early enough can line their stomachs so that they don’t embarrass themselves later on during the day - the days a marathon not a sprint remember! Please Note; it’s free for the early birds.

Once you've ticked the box for food then you can tick the box for a bit of pampering by booking yourself in for a free 15 minute massage from the SIO Therapy Rooms courtesy of a number of fully trained and qualified masseurs who will be happy to give you the once over and ease you into the rest of the day.  The Wigon Casino will be making a welcome return for all you hustlers out there so remember the golden rule no wig no play.

Oh yes and last but not least Stick It On will be bringing up the rear (as usual) giving some of you the chance to spin 15 minutes of your favourite choons.  To enter the draw to play please follow these three simple steps:

1. Think of the DJ name that you would like to go by…
2. Rack your brains and rifle through your record collection to get your hands on your song selections guaranteed to tear up the dance floor.
3. Click here to send us an email, listing the above information along with your real name and a contact number so that we can get back to you.

We’ll then enter you into the draw that will be pulled a few days before the event to determine who the lucky few are.

There are a limited number of early bird tickets available for the reduced price of just £10, remarkably good value, we hope you'll agree. Click here to get your hands on some before they're all gone!
