Stick It On Bank Holiday All-dayer At The King And Queen
By Stick It On Team 9th May 2008
May indulges us with the second Stick It On bank holiday all-dayer of the year, three cheers for May. Our special guests for the day include Michael Fielding, who is perhaps better known as Naboo from the cult comedy series ‘The Mighty Boosh’. Michael will be appearing as himself on the day and taking up position behind the decks for our listening pleasure. Apparently he has something of a penchant for rinse-out and so should fit into the day rather nicely.
We also have live music from the fantastic blues and soul band ‘Fearless Jones’. The band is fronted by Frank DoubleDay Jnr, otherwise known as Little Frank, who grew up listening to such musical greats as Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Luther Vandross, Millie Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and Gwen Guthrie, all of whom have influenced his incredible voice and style of singing.
Joining these two acts we have the award-winning Gamarjobat, a Japanese visual comedy duo who communicate to their audience solely through the medium of mime. Ketch! (red Mohican) and HIRO-PON (yellow Mohican) met in 1995 at an Asia Mime Festival and have been honing their skills ever since, the pair manage to evade any cultural and language barriers with their brand of gentle acrobatics and physical theatrics. ‘Prepare to be amazed by Japanese comedy sensation Gamarjobat and their slick, fast paced, free-flowing mime. Prepare to be left speechless with laughter.’
Festival favourites the ‘Digital Funfair’ will also be paying us a visit and bringing with them their Virtual Coconut Shy and Beat Jigsaw. The Beat Jigsaw is essentially a jigsaw puzzle that can be used by absolutely anybody to create music and VJ style graphics, simply through positioning and arranging a series of wooden blocks around a table top. Each spot triggers off a corresponding sound and video loop which can be layered to make your very own music track. The Virtual Coconut Shy provides the perfect way to vent any frustration that you may be harbouring in a harmless and legal way. The traditional fun of the coconut shy is combined with clever digital technology to create a bizarre, unique and hilarious spectacle to be enjoyed by anyone with the ability to throw a ball.
Following on from our Easter Extravaganza we are continuing to pack in as much as we can during the day. This will once again include Jamaica’s finest cuisine in the form of Reggae, Steady, Cook. For the first two hours of the afternoon a free meal of sensational grub is available to all who come through the door, so get there early and feast upon the fodder of the gods without having to spend any of your pennies. You can also book yourself in for a free 15 minute massage from the SIO Therapy Rooms courtesy of a number of fully trained and qualified masseurs who will be happy to give you the once over and ease you into the rest of the day. The Wig-On Casino will be making a welcome return for all you hustlers out there so remember the golden rule: no wig, no play. Music will be provided courtesy of Dante & Delv from world-renowned club night 'Family Funktunes'. The Room of Filth will also be making a welcome return, which will continue to host dirty beats and breaks curated by Dave Henley from Pressure Drop with Darrison, Justin from Pressure Drop and, of course, not forgetting Steptoe & Son.
In true Stick It On tradition we will have 12 happy punters rinsing it out with 15 minutes of their favourite choons.
