Stick Your Job Up Your A
By Chris Challis 23rd Apr 2008
Multi award-winning comedian John Bishop hits the road with a brand new show, all about the joys of telling his boss to do something that most people might find impossible.
“A comic revolutionary… Not to be missed” – The Independent
Would you leave a successful career to try and make people laugh for a living? John did… all in the name of comedy! Until 2006 he worked in a lucrative marketing job during the day and spent his nights moonlighting in the world of comedy – a world where some people thought he was funny enough to give awards and money to (not necessarily in that order and if the Inland Revenue visit it must be said that most performances were for the art of comedy and no payments were received in cash…. honest). Now he has finally taken that long-awaited leap of faith and become a full-time stand-up (i.e. he lost his day job)… and this evening is the story of how he got here!
"A must see show and if you fail to laugh like a lunatic on ether, check yourself into a mortuary: you are probably dead." – Metro
Winner of the City Life Comedian of the Year and a finalist in both the Mercury Comedy Awards and the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards, his strong stage presence and life experience make him a comedian who is not afraid to take chances, and this is reflected in his status as one of the best young comics in the country!
JOHN BISHOP visits Komedia’s Studio Bar on Saturday 10 May at 8.30pm. Tickets are £10 available on-line at www.komedia.co.uk/brighton or from the Box Office on 01273 647100 (booking fees apply).
