Sumo Closes ? April 10th 2007
Published 19th Mar 2007 by Obviously Media
The end of an era as this heavyweight bar closes its doors for the last time. Do you remember the days when all the bars and pubs in Brighton closed at 11pm? When you couldn?t get into a club after 1am? It seems strange that Brighton still managed to have a reputation as a party city in those bygone days when the wind whistled down an empty West Street in the early hours of the morning. What is even more strange is that all this was less than 18 months ago ? obviously we?ve happily embraced the challenge of late night drinking and our city has a more Mediterranean, laid back, open all hours feel than before.
But ? back in those bygone days when the poor, thirsty late night reveller had to hide out indoors there was one beacon of light in the barren landscape. Sumo was the original later bar in Brighton and heralded the way for those to come.
Having been the blueprint for the late night style bar and club, The venue is now looking to the future, and Sumo intends to step gracefully out of the ring to make way for a new and exciting concept in the city?s drinking culture. Party like it?s 1999?
Actually Sumo doesn?t intend to bow out gracefully at all?
Come and relive old times for the Sumo closing parties and party like its 1999 throughout the Bank Holiday weekend?
