Tailspin In Festival Film Night Shocker! 27th May
Published 18th May 2004 by Tetsugaku
Our last-night screening/party on Thursday, May 27th features this unique competition open to anyone with a DV camera and a laptop with editing software. We believe this is the first time such a competition has ever been held anywhere, which makes it a world-first. You're making history, guys!
Each team (max 2 people) films the same song from a short set by top Brighton punk band, Tailspin, and once this material has been loaded into their laptops, along with two additional sources from the Final Cut cameras, they have 60 minutes to turn it into an MV. The films are shown to the Final Cut audience later in the night and they vote for the winner. First prize is ?50.
The Eight Wonders of the World:
1. Tailspin play a five-song set of material from their new EP - the last song will be the subject of the MV
3. A blank miniDV is issued to each team shortly before the set commences
4. Using their own cameras, each team records the last song onto this tape
5. Final Cut films the same song with its own cameras:
- static camera for master w/s + master audio
- roving camera for VJ-manipulated images
6. When the set is over, teams transfer all three sources of material to their laptops
7. When transfers have been completed, they are given 60 minutes to produce the MV
8. Completed MVs are transferred back to the miniDV tape for screening
Only FIVE teams can enter the competition (max two people per entry - camera/editor) and acceptances are on a first-come basis. Other applications will be placed on a reserve list, also on a first-come basis.
Email info@finalcut.gb.com for an application form.
Deadline for receipt for MV Challenge applications is Friday, May 14th.
