The George Pub Raises The Bar With Animal Friendly Policy
By Sam 16th May 2008
The George Pub Takes the Prize for Feeding Brighton's Pub-Lunchers With Healthy, Humane Food. In recognition of its outstanding commitment to providing customers with tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes, The George pub in Brighton has earned a PETA Europe Proggy Award for the Best Animal-Friendly Pub. The pub has been presented with a glossy certificate and is featured on PETA Europe's website PETA.org.uk. The group's annual Proggy Awards ("Proggy" stands for "progress") recognise animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.
Compassionate customers who fancy a pub lunch can choose anything from The George's completely vegetarian and vegan menu and bar and know that it's cruelty-free, which promotes kindness to animals in a tasty and fun way. Brighton is one of the best cities in the UK for vegetarians and vegans, and The George does the seaside resort city proud with its animal-friendly policy.
"One trip to The George and customers leave with a whole new idea of what eating veggie means – and it certainly doesn't mean missing out on tasty pub lunches", says PETA's Alexia Weeks. "The George makes it fun and easy to eat healthily and humanely when out for a drink, and this is our way of saying thanks."
Almost 20 Proggy Awards have been given out this year, and the other winners include a chocolate company, high-street fashion chains, and independent producers and marketers of vegan foods and cruelty-free personal-care products.
