The Gigolos At The Brighton Odeon Cinema
Published 22nd Nov 2006 by Jonathan
Film-fans in Brighton will be the first to see acclaimed new British film THE GIGOLOS. THE GIGOLOS is due for nationwide release in March 2007, but thanks to Odeon and the CINECITY film festival, the film will be screened in advance
at Brighton’s Odeon cinema at 8.30pm, Monday 27th November.
British director Richard Bracewell’s debut film, THE GIGOLOS is a buddy movie about two Mayfair gigolos whose clients are over 50. British screen legends Anna Massey, Sian Phillips and Susannah York play the clients, while talented
newcomers Sacha Tarter and Trevor Sather are the gigolos.
THE GIGOLOS has already received critical praise, with the Los Angeles Times calling it a “subtly delightful film”, Empire adding: “witty and quietly savage”, and film critic David Edwards of the Daily Mirror describing it as “the shot in the arm that British cinema needs”. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and members of the cast, where members of the audience can find out more about the THE GIGOLOS, the stars, and making films in general!
Richard Bracewell, director of THE GIGOLOS, said: “We’re delighted to be invited to the CINECITY festival and to be screening at Brighton’s Odeon. We’re grateful that they’ve backed the film from the beginning and are committed to giving their audiences the choice they’re demanding, not just and not just Hollywood re-makes and blockbusters.
“We’re confident that the Brighton audience will enjoy the film – it’s aimed squarely at intelligent and film-literate people who enjoy original plots and nuanced performances. With some of cinema’s greatest actresses brought together for the first time, and the chance to put questions afterwards, we hope the screening will be full to overflowing – after all, it’s a once-only chance to see THE GIGOLOS before the rest of the country!”
