The Goddess Show at Brighton Racecourse

The Goddess Show at Brighton Racecourse
Published 31st Dec 2007 by Boktalo Promotions

On 15th & 16th March, the Goddess Show South at Brighton Racecourse launches an Arts and Dance festival, a dynamic fusion of exotic and inspirational music and dance performances and workshops. This will be complimenting the 70 stands of health, beauty, mind, body, spirit, clothes and arts & crafts.

Joining the event this year is the tantalising Rakhi Sood, one of the UK’s leading Kathak and Bhangra performers and teachers. Along with her team, she will be running Bollywood dance workshops for men and women, all ages and abilities.

Katie Holland’s Egyptian belly dance workshops will be available on both days of the show and she will also be selling unusual Indian jewellery and clothing at her stand throughout the weekend. Everyone is invited to “learn how to move your body in ways you never thought possible!”

Dragonfly Moon will be performing their powerful and evocative music which has been inspired by the beauty of the British Isles and its ancient myths and traditions. Scott Jasper will also be running energetic drumming/singing workshops on both days. Their stand will be offering a superb range of fairly traded world musical instruments.

Musician, artistic director and author Patrick Jasper Lee will be performing some new foot-stomping songs from his forthcoming album ‘Wild and Free’. His Romani roots and traditional gypsy way of life have inspired his passionate and uplifting style and his “lyrics will not fail not stir the soul”.

Other stands include: Beautiful and unusual clothes from ‘Goddess Within’ and ‘Wytch Haze’; ‘Indian Facial Rejuvenation’, taster sessions from Carol Anderson; original art, prints and sculpture from ‘Tiana Art’, ‘Painting Dreams’ and ‘Karen Mander’; plus crystals, jewellery, pagan crafts and fairtrade ethnic homewares from ‘Vandevi’.

The ‘Goddess Shrine’ is at the heart of every Goddess Show, an opportunity to learn more about the ancient gods and goddesses of our past and to make a wish come true!

Other workshops and talks include; ‘The Tribal Goddess of our Lands’, an exploration of the ancient and tribal goddesses of Britain, with Jo Hooper; ‘Psychic Signature Reading’ with Sue Hudd, one of the country’s most respected psychic readers; ‘The Problem with Men’, an insight into the world of the male from a man who knows, with Richard Abbott; ‘The Magic of Flower Essences’, with Gillian Ross.

Children’s entertainment will include the magical puppets of The Jal Folk Theatre Co., creative crafts from Sitting Pretty and face painting and storytelling from Magical Faces.
