The Hat At Komedia

The Hat At Komedia
Published 27th Oct 2006 by Chris Challis

Making Mini Musical Movies for the mind, ears and soul, ThE HaT are simply one of the freshest bands around. Mixing rhythmical storytelling and cinematic live music, ThE HaT reflect on the light and dark shades of light using intelligence, humour and energy.

ThE HaT approach their music from an interesting and innovative angle, scoring intricate soundtracks to each of their twisted tales, taking the listener on journeys through worlds where animals are in charge, plants scream when cut and new loves are found at the drop of a bat.

?A little bit Ian Dury, a little bit Devendra Banhart, they ignore traditional boundaries?. The four of them are all multi-talented musicians, switching instruments at the drop of a hat and harmonising like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young? - BBC

Their exciting and innovative live show has been seen at a multitude of festivals including Glastonbury and a main stage slot at BESTIVAL, as well support slots for the likes of The Mystery Jets (with whom they are currently doing a mini-tour with), The Bees and Michelle Shocked.

ThE HaT have many hats as it were; from composing a soundtrack alongside innovative physical theatre company FZ productions to working with the London Swingfonia orchestra on an orchestrated story (debuted at Glastonbury Festival 2005) to being awarded one of the demo?s of the year by prestigious French magazine CQFD, and being included on DJ Rob Da Bank?s Folk Off compilation.

ThE HaT visit Komedia on Tuesday 7 November at 8.30pm. Tickets are ?8/?6 conc.
