The Lanes Market at The Friends Meeting House

On Saturday 29th March the Lanes Market returns to the Friends’ Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton. Shoppers can expect to see some old faces, along with a number of new and exciting designers selling must-have clothing, accessories and items for the home. Entrance is free and doors open to the public from 10am to 5pm. “Not only are visitor numbers increasing all the time, the number of new enquiries from highly talented designers and makers is also rising,” says event organiser Jo Reeder. “People know that only the best will get through the selection process, and it is this quality that makes The Lanes Market stand out from the crowd,” she adds.

Those wanting a taste of Brick Lane’s Sunday Upmarket or Portobello Road won’t be disappointed as they search for that one-off item of clothing or original piece of artwork. Not only do you get to enjoy a unique shopping environment and buy some cool items made by local designers, but you also get to meet the people behind the products, a major draw for many shoppers. And if all the shopping gets too much you can relax in the café, which will be serving up sandwiches, homemade cakes, fresh juices, and hot drinks.

Organisers are also planning a large outdoor market in June, with lots of surprises in store, so watch this space! There will also be another market at The Friends’ Meeting House on Saturday 13th September as well as the Christmas event. It looks like 2008 is going to be another successful year for The Lanes Market.
