The Music For Africa Project
Published 19th Oct 2006 by Dani
To raise money for 'The Music for Africa Project' a gig is being held on Friday 20th Oct 06 at ‘The Cella’, Brunswick Street East, Hove. It’s a night of Blues, Soul and More with performances from Mr Brown (Husky Blues), Lady Josephine (Blues and Jazz), Ben Bodoano (Lead singer in The Reveals), and Dani Wilde playing some raw blues and soul.
Dani Wilde established ‘The Music for Africa Project’ and has been organising local fundraising events to raise money. The money is all going to County Primary School in Embu, Kenya to fund a music teacher and to provide each of the 650 children with their own descant recorder.
Since President Kibaki came to power in Kenya, the education system has been in reform. He made primary education free and compulsory for all Kenyan children. This sounds like a good thing, and it is, but it also meant that class sizes doubled overnight and schools like County Primary School lack qualified teachers and facilities.
Dani Wilde has supported many artists including the legendary Maddie Prior (Steel-eye Spam), Chris Holland (Jools’ Brother) and Gary Moore!
Doors open 8:00 pm. Entry is £5 and all money goes to the charity project.
