Comedy News
The Noise Next Door
Published 12th May 2011 by Jessica Lambert
‘ALL-STAR COMEDY LOCK-IN’
A brand new breed of comedy club comes to the Komedia!
‘All-Star Comedy Lock-In’ is a 21st century mash-up of stand-up, panel shows, and after-hours banter. With this new breed of comedy club, not only do you get three incredible stand-ups and a hefty dose of cutting-edge improv comedy from your hosts – The Noise Next Door – you also get to witness some truly spectacular one off comedy curiosities... Topical news quizzes! Kick-ass sing-a-longs! Potentially libellous game show rip-offs!
This riotous new entertainment experience is like nothing you’ve ever seen before!
The very special pilot edition of ‘All-Star Comedy Lock-In’ will feature the incredible Charlie Baker. Charlie is perhaps most recognisable as the winner of this year’s ‘Lets Dance for Comic Relief’ where is energetic tap dance routine alongside Emmerdale star James Thornton wowed audiences and raised over a million pounds for charity.
He’s not just a dancer though... Charlie is a superb stand-up and all round entertainer. He has appeared as a panellist on ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ on BBC2 and in episodes of ‘Doctor Who’ on BBC1 and ‘The IT Crowd’ on Channel 4. He is potentially even more familiar to Brighton audiences as the Southern Rail’s excitable Mexican wrestler mascot! (“Go loco! Go Southern!”) Charlie’s debut solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe – ‘The World’s Greatest Show-Off’ – won the Mervyn Stutter Spirit of the Fringe award and received rave reviews.
The show is hosted by the U.K’s premier improv comedy troupe, and Brighton boys, The Noise Next Door. In the last three years, they have taken the comedy world by storm, leaving audiences everywhere in awe of their lightning fast wit and totally original comedic talents. The three times Edinburgh Fringe veterans have appeared alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary comedy including Harry Hill, Ed Byrne, Rufus Hound, and Alistair McGowen and boast an impressive portfolio of glowing reviews...
“HILARIOUS” **** Daily Telegraph, “MASTERPIECE” ***** ThreeWeeks, “GENIUS” ***** Fringe Review, “WORLD-CLASS” ***** US Weekly, “ASTONISHING” **** Edinburgh Evening News, “INFECTIOUS” **** Fringe Guru.
More acts are still to be announced for Brighton’s most exciting new night of comedy... It is set to be something really quite special.
