The Pride Parade - Saturday 4th August
Published 1st Aug 2007 by Amanda
The Pride Parade is a highlight of the Pride weekend. Expect this year's to be more exciting and colourful than ever before as local organisations and groups take to the streets in this year's Musicals theme. Expect floats and walking tableaux with songs, music and dances from the likes of Grease, West Side Story, Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma, Moulin Rouge, The Sound of Music and
Bugsy Malone! Watch out for The Wizard of Oz,
Chicago, The Beautiful Game, Rocky Horror Picture Show and much much more.
The parade will leave from Madeira Drive at 11.30am, head up the Old Steine and London Road to Preston Park. The main event on Preston Park runs from 12 noon-8pm. There's all your favourites back again this year, including the Wild Fruit Tent, Revenge Cabaret Big Top, Women's Performance Tent, Community Village, Bears Zone, People of Colour Calabash Tent, The Market, Fun Fair, Access Tent, Pride Members' Enclosure, The Paul Wilde Line Dancing Tent, a new Trans Tent and much much more. See separate listing for full details of lineups in individual performance and dance areas.
The event is free - but please put some money in the collections buckets as the parade passes by!
