The Sussex Fashion Awards 2011 include big industry fashion professionals.

The Sussex Fashion awards are pleased to announce that Eric Musgrave, former Editor-in-Chief of Drapers.com, part of EMAP Ltd., has joined 8 other professionals including local Brighton & Hove MP Mike Weatherley, and brand of the moment – REISS Stores- to judge the first Sussex Fashion Awards including Brighton & Hove 2011.

The Sussex Fashion Awards are part of the growing Fashion Trust, a charity set up to encourage visibility of the industry, design, manufacturing and export from the south.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Eric Musgrave is joining us to be part of this extraordinary senior team of professionals that are providing us, not only with their time but, also, their expertise for the very first Fashion Awards, taking place in Sussex” … states Michaela Walker, Trustee.

The professional judges are from a number of fashion related disciplines and high profile industries including a member of parliament, university head of fashion, International retail stores director, regional press and media, and fashion professionals.
Our judges include

• Jake Leith, currently President Elect of the Chartered Society of Designers and is Past Chair of the CSD Fashion & Textiles Group and Head of Fashion & Business development at Brighton University.
• Mike Weatherley MP, for Hove & Portslade, with interests in creative industries and IP Rights
• Claire Arksey, Retail Operations REISS stores,
• Eric Musgrave, former editor of Drapers.com,
• Bethania Matheus, Director, BM Models,
• Frances Tobin RCA, professional colourist,
• Claire Wallace, editor of the growing regional lifestyle ETC ‘magazine,
• Rachel Boyle and Dawn Gracie of ABC magazines.

The public nominations closed February 2011 and the finalists were announced during May 2011. Judging will now take place over the summer months with winners being announced during September 2011.
