The Treason Show
By Chris 21st Jul 2008
Even though Parliament’s not sitting and the Royals have packed their swimming cossies and headed out of town, those Treason Show wits will still find plenty to comment on as we hit the traditional ‘silly season’ for news stories! Alongside all this summer satire, the team welcome back co-founder and serial Treason-ite Carol Kentish, to the stage.
The Treason Show team trawl far and wide to find the most up-to-the-minute gags and savage political comment. Anyone that knows their newspaper from their chip-paper owes it to themselves to watch. Founded in 2000, The Treason Show is a slick and irreverent satirical sketch show based on the news and current affairs. Founded by local lad made bad Mark Brailsford, The Treason Show plays to packed houses up to five nights a month, skewering targets from the Royal Family to ex-President Blair via the lack of decent toilets on British trains. (Oh yes …and Lewes District Council!) It’s never the same show twice!
‘”Savagely funny, fantastically silly” – The Guardian
Written by a team of over 40 writers and performed by a team of multi-talented satirical sketch performers (BAFTA Nominated Artists 2004) The Treason Show continues to wow it's audiences with a fast moving gag-a-minute sketch show. In the past, The Guardian nominated The Treason Show for it's alternative Perrier shortlist at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and over the last seven years the show has become a true Brighton institution.
THE TREASON SHOW visits Komedia from Thursday 7 - Saturday 9 July at 8.30pm. Tickets are £13.50/£11.50 conc. available on-line at www.komedia.co.uk/brighton or from the Box Office on 01273 647100 (booking fees apply).
