Bedroom Rockers we salute you. The 2009 UK Air Guitar Championships sponsored by WKD.

Playing air guitar is one of life’s guilty pleasures and WKD is saluting the UK’s bedroom rockers by unveiling their sponsorship of the 2009 UK Air Guitar Championships.

Those that practice the art of playing Air Guitar (and have the bottle to do it on stage) are clearly bonkers and we love it. The UK’s top 10 air guitarists and a band of hardcore fans will be converging on the Concorde Club 2 in Brighton to witness a night of outlandish air guitar antics on Tuesday 29th September from 7pm till midnight.

This year’s event is hosted by Cozza, the god of UK air guitar, winner of the UK Air Guitar Championships since the inaugural championships in 2006. Having hung up his air guitar and pocketed his plectrum, Cozza will be crowning a new champion for 2009.

Each contestant chooses their preferred track for round one and if they make it through the audience’s archaic judging procedure they are through to round two where they will duel against each other in a mind-blowing episode of air guitar war.

Only three skilled rockers will make the final round and will take part in the ultimate ‘air off’ against each other.

Events of the evening:

7pm Doors open – DJ is playing
9pm Band 'Thank you anyway' begins
9:30 Band ends DJ takes over and initial crowd briefing begins
9:45 Air guitar round 1 group 1 begins
10:15 Air Guitar round 1 group 2 begins
10:45 Semi final begins (3 groups of 3 contestants)
11:15 Final begins (1 group of 3 contestants)
11:20 New winner crowned
12:00 Event closure to be moved on to after party venue
