Voodoo Vaudeville?s Skin Of The Moon At Komedia
Published 3rd Nov 2006 by Chris Challis
Welcome to the world of Voodoo Vaudeville, where sinister figures stalk the shadows in a luscious never-never land of defiant performance, deviant theatricality, twisted cabaret, cruel yet tender comedy and cutting edge contemporary dance.
Voodoo Vaudeville the legendary Brighton-based contemporary vaudeville company, hit Edinburgh this August with the premiere of their latest show Skin of the Moon at the Assembly Rooms. Led by Voodoo’s founder, new variety veteran Chris Cresswell, a stellar cast of five will sing, dance, and clown their way through a time traveling tale of forbidden love in a sensational, sexy blend of vaudeville theatre, comedy and film. Expect to encounter fiendish B-movie characters, burlesque theatricals, wicked wit, the notorious puppet oracle Baby Warhol and a sprinkling of audience participation in this charmingly outrageous and twisted Victorian romp through the mists of time.
‘This is the genuine article - classy, arsey, arty entertainment' -Total Theatre
The company tread an exhilarating and expertly managed fine line between performance art, game show, comedy and club night. Recent shows have included Cabaret Berlin, referencing the cabarets of pre-war Berlin, The Degeneration Game, a gameshow fantasy and most recently Fantasmagoria a show based on victorian fairy tales.
SKIN OF THE MOON visit Komedia on Friday 24 November at 9pm. Tickets are £12/£10 conc.
