Westwood Confirmed For Oceana

Westwood Confirmed For Oceana
Published 15th Jul 2008 by Abbi Oakley

Radio 1 DJ and international superstar, Tim Westwood, is making an exclusive appearance for UKCC at Oceana, Brighton on Tuesday 29th July.  Regarded by many as the most recognised urban DJ of the decade, Westwood, aka ‘The Big Dawg,’ has confirmed he will take over the decks at the under 18s night for a live set.  The multi-award winning rapper has picked up some of the industry’s most prestigious accolades such as the Sony Award for Best Specialist Music Programme in 1990, 1991 and 1994 and he has been voted the Number One Rap DJ by the readers of Hip Hop Connection for the past ten years. In addition, he won the Best Radio Show at the Muzik Magazine Awards 1999. He is also heavily committed to supporting UK talent on the Radio 1 Rap Show and promotes unsigned talent through open mic competitions and showcases.

‘UKCC’ (UK Club Culture) offers high profile entertainment for 13-17 year olds throughout the country at Luminar Leisure venues. By working closely with local Police and having clearly defined policies, UKCC encourages youngsters to have a great evening out in safe surroundings. General manager, Tony Buck, said: “We are very excited to welcome Tim Westwood to Oceana. He is such an influential figure in RnB and Hip Hop, and I’m sure our under 18 clubbers will appreciate his DJing talents. It’s great to be able to offer the younger crowd some top quality live entertainment.”
Tickets will be £10, and include admission, soft drinks and cloakroom, and can be bought from www.tick.it, Rounder Records, or the Dome Box Office.

Any remaining tickets will be available on the door.
