Theatre RoyalSmaller than the Dome but more prestigious, looks like a mini grand London theatre. Attracts some quality productions and star names. . | ![]() |
Western FrontA lively, centrally located pub, the Western Front is popular with both an after-work crowd as well as being a good fun weekend venue. The patio tables are prime people-watching spots thanks to their proximity to Churchill Square, great in the summer for sharing a jug of Pimms.
Inside, the pub is split into two levels, with bars on both floors and locally produced art and photography on the walls. | ![]() |
JamIn the central Brighton site previously occupied by Water Margin, Jam offers an altogether more gig-based experience, with pre- and post-show drinks available in the newly refurbished upstairs bar. Focusing on emerging talent, Jam also hosts boutique club nights with music ranging from dubstep to rhythm and blues. Recent events include launch parties for both Loop Festival and The Great Escape. | ![]() |
Fiddlers ElbowDespite its close proximity to West Street, the Fiddler’s Elbow is a thriving traditional Irish pub – the only one in this part of Brighton. Said to serve the best pint of Guinness in the city (and probably the cheapest too) they also have an enormous selection of Guinness memorabilia on the walls and fixtures and fittings that actually originated in Ireland. You'll find a good selection of Irish whiskies on offer too. | ![]() |
LongmanWell known and established traditional pub with famous ‘over-sized red pool table’ and two large screens. A Time-honoured saloon end for those wishing to dine or after a quieter drink. The Longman caters for all types and all ages. | ![]() |
The OrientalOne of the original 'Brighton Boutique hotels'. Under-stated yet bursting with character, this evolving Regency building is under new management with a refreshing view on design and service. Recommended by Time Out, Lonely Planet and the Guardian. | ![]() |
KultureKulture is one of Brighton's favourite late night venues with live DJ's 5 nights a week from 7pm until 3am. Situated slap bang in the middle of all of the late night action on Brightons infamous party strip, West Street.
Have a drink in the bar area & watch all the latest music videos on the huge screens, book one of their plush 5 star booths in the lounge area, party the night away in the club area & just relax in the North african themed heated garden lounge. | ![]() |
Stanmer HouseStanmer House is a magnificent country house set in the midst of Brighton's premier parkland only ten minutes from Brighton centre. Offering a classical historic venue combined with state of the art technology, at Stanmer House nothing is impossible.
Built in 1727, Stanmer was once the ancestral home of the Pelham family and the Earls of Chichester; a place frequented by Winston Churchill and Queen Victoria, Stanmer House is reborn having been dormant for well over a decade. | ![]() |
Preston ManorExplore more than twenty rooms over four floors, from the servants' quarters, kitchens and butler's pantry in the basement to the attic bedrooms and nursery on the top floor. This delightful old Manor House evokes the atmosphere of an Edwardian gentry house both 'upstairs' and 'downstairs'.

Booth Museum of Natural HistoryOver half a million specimens, natural history literature and data extending back over three centuries are housed in this fascinating museum, including hundreds of British birds displayed in recreated natural settings. Plus butterflies, skeletons, a whale and dinosaur bones.

Open 7 days a week, with a cafe canteen run by the people who brought you Pinxto People, The Brighton Coalition will be yet another reason why you should be down by the sea. | ![]() |
XumaIn various places and at various times, Xuma - with an X or a Z - has been the name of a classic Neil Young album, an Aztec god and a Californian beach. Since summer 2006, it has also been the name of the Seven Dials' most characterful bar. Combining gallery and drinking haunt, it's a warm and atmospheric environment, with red velvet seating surrounded on all sides by paintings and photography, much of it locally produced; there is also a second, more intimate seating area downstairs. | ![]() |
Riki TiksWith residencies from some of the city's finest decksmiths, and boasting two bars as well as stylish leather booths, mirrors, projections and gallery space, Riki Tik is regarded as one of the best late-night venues in Brighton. Yet it has a strong daytime following too, now opening at 10am for fair-trade organic coffee and herbal teas as well as alcohol (happy hour 4 ‘til 8), with the popular Toasty menu being served all day. | ![]() |

Hectors HouseHector’s House is a youth-oriented town-centre pub. With a vibrant and chilled (if that’s possible, we don’t like serving oxymorons) atmosphere, created by the fun-loving clientele, Hector’s is situated in the heart of Brighton, next door to the University art college and only a couple of minutes walk from the seafront and the Palace Pier. | ![]() |
The Connaught Pub & KitchenOur garden is simply lovely and one of the best kept secrets in Hove (so keep this to yourself!) It’s a relaxing sun-trap that’s perfect for eating, drinking, socialising or just catching few rays.
The Connaught Pub and Kitchen is a proper pub with real ales and carefully chosen wines. Add to that a great restaurant serving a British inspired menu made from the best organic meats, vegetables and the freshest locally landed fish we can find. | ![]() |
Al DuomoA very popular local family run Italian open all day. The interior is cool & contemporary with a brown, red and cream colour scheme, lots of exposed brickwork and sleek leather sofas in the bar area for drinks, lounging or coffee and modern art through out. Next door to the Royal Pavilion and centrally located to the main shops, hotels and entertainment. | ![]() |
Fountain HeadJust down from Bill's Produce Store, The Fountainhead is a warm and inviting watering hole that combines classic pub features - exposed brickwork, wooden floors and a log fire - with a contemporary sense of light and space. It caters for all comers, from regulars to locals, and students to young professionals - and several decades beyond. As well as a superb food menu, they offer a strong drink selection (two real ales and Westons on tap, as well as a good range of spirits and shooters). | ![]() |
SidewinderLaid-back in the daytime and lively at night, the Sidewinder is a large and bustling watering hole that's firmly entrenched in the nightlife of Brighton, attracting drinkers from across the city as well as plenty of Kemptown locals. It is also surely the only pub in Brighton to boast not one but two large beer gardens, one of which is heated and covered with sofas to create the perfect outdoor drinking space. | ![]() |
Open House & Performer BarA large, stylish pub located next to London Road station, The Open House features three separate inside areas, plus an upstairs function room – not to mention one of the largest and most attractive beer gardens in Brighton. The food, served every day, is a particular highlight and while the pub is child-friendly during the day, they have occasional DJs, live music and improvisational comedy. | ![]() |

Easy BarCentrally located but markedly different in atmosphere from anything on neighbouring West Street, the Easy Bar has a committed lunchtime and after work crowd during the week, turning into more of a party venue at weekends. They have DJs every weekend, playing everything from house to funk and soul, with the regular It’s A Rave Dave being particularly notorious. There’s also a monthly comedy night and, though a long way from a sports bar, they show most footie matches too. | ![]() |
