Out Of The Bag

What an absulutely fantastic evening of entertainment! I'm not necessarily a jazz or blues fan but the combination of excellent musicians, stunning vocals and the utterly talented 'Baguettes' made me want to see them again as soon as possible.

Laura Vane

I have heard Laura play a few times, in various bands and various gigs. I think she has an amazing soulful voice and a real talent. Looking forward to tonight.

Rich Somers

I saw Rich play at the Coalition under the banner of Totally Unsigned. He and his band played first out of four bands and truth is, even without his lead guitarist, he blew the other bands away. Maybe I just prefer his style of music because the other bands were excellent but just didn't move me in the same way. I'm gonna see him play at the Latest Music Venue (formally Jooglebury for those that don't know) on Thursday 18th coz I believe the whole band will be there including the missing guitarist link. Should be a cracker.......Coalition was half hour, Latest music will be 2 hours.....cant wait. If you want a passionate performance, don't miss out. I've got my tickets!

Brighton Fringe - Fun At The Fringe

I went with some friends to see Fun At The Fringe yesterday (Sun 11 May) and laughed my head off. That's a very good thing as it is a comedy show. The show was ably held together by the always entertaining compere Sam Stone, of The Birthday Club fame. The comedians were of very high standard, and all completely different. Material ranged from dinosaur impressions and action man as a male role model to Asian mothers butting in on one's new dominatrix career... So, something for everyone. Brilliant! Headlining comedian, Danish superstar Mette Lisby, was worth the ticket price alone. She mentioned the war! and w**king! Although, luckily, not in the same gag.

And there was a Happy Birthday singalong for one of the comedians. Awww. Both funny and wonderfully nice, this show is great value for money. We'll be back for the matinees next weekend.

This Is Elvis

Turned up to Jamie/Elvis et al's most recent night just this Friday gone, bit work and kiddie weary. The minute this young 23 year old came on stage I woke up! Great performer and a natural way with the crowd for one so young; a believable young Elvis and truly superb voice. Great backing musicians (with nice bums! I was sat behind them!) and young Elvis has a lovely family who come to gigs taboot. So mind those groping hands ladies! He is only 23 and his mum is in the audience! Tricia@ 7 Dials x (hoping to bring new friends to see you 10th May Jamie!)

Nicky Mitchell

I went to see Nicky Mitchell doing a night at the joogleberry, The band as usual were brilliant, and Nicky, as ever was truly magnificent. She is the best singer I have ever heard! It was a great show, with comedy from Frankie Chalet, which was hilarious, and Daisy Smutton doing Mae West, which wasn't brilliant, but was definitely very funny, I almost fell off my chair! But maybe that was the magarettas! The venue has lots of atmosphere, but it was a bit annoying having to go upstairs to the toilet all the time. There is no doubt about it though, Nicky Mitchell is definately the queen of the Brighton swing scene! We've all booked tickets for the next show on March 21st! Ace!

Fake Bush Goes To Bollywood Tribute

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Un-Bolly-vable! Vibrant costumes, wafting incense, Krishna-esque attendants, sitar riffs, Bolly-Bushy fused dance and homemade props transform the Joogleberry Playhouse into ‘Temple Bushywood’ for a camp, comical, bonkers extravaganza! Fake’s take on Kate Bush prove This Woman’s Work is the real deal as she scales Wuthering Heights!

Gabby Young And Others. What a treat last night was!

Loved the venue - just a shame that some didn't get in due to its size. But that was part of its charm, and lets hope they put on another similar night for those that were disappointed.

All the bands were fantastic!

Only one minor annoyance from where we were sitting - the bar staff talking loudy through every set!!!

The Gabby Young Collective + Frank Turner + Michel

Gabby Young, acousticly or with her band have been so exciting to listen to recently. It will be brilliant to heat them again in Brighton, and if you have missed her incredible vocal olympics, make sure you come to hear her at Joogleberry.

Frank Turner (ex Million Dead) needs not introduction - fantastic, nuff said!
