This is a fantastic fish restaurant, the food is great and I like the online campaigning that Love's is doing as a small business. I forget the host's name but it was cool to see him in there in person, I enjoyed the episode of Kitchen Nightmares featuring this restaurant in its older days.

For anyone reading, I'd ignore the review just below if I were you. It's just one of those people that enjoys being negative about everything no matter how great it is - sometimes there are too many customers stirring shit like that. And the person who wrote it is clearly an asshole, admitting that he didn't even respond to the staff when they politely asked him how the food was. How very rude.

5/5, go to this restaurant if you haven't before. If you don't like fish, then you will after eating at Love's.

I was disappointed. Between us we had two starters, one main. My first starter - salt and pepper squid was actually fine cut, battered calamari a la Romana. Ok as far as it went, but it was not salt and pepper squid. The dipping sause had chilli, but no ginger (as advertised).

My second starter - fish chowder was nothing like any chowder I have ever tried. There were some bits of fish in it but then that is where it stops. The 'soup' content was a very dense tomato puree - not a hint of fish stock or any other vegetable (OK there was some parsley on the croutons). The 'soup' was unseasoned, and quite tart.

My partner had fish stew. This looked like and tasted exactly the same as by fish chowder - except it was served on top of boiled rice. No hint of fish stock, no vegetables other than the sharp tomatoe puree.
The wine was OK, the service somewhat offhand. She asked - 'was that nice?' and walked away before I could answer.

Ramsey would have done his nut - The Nightmare Goes On !!

I'm a local of Brighton. This review by Zyg is so far off I don't know where to start. Seems as though the person has no clue about great food. I hope anyone reading this will not take anything Zyg has said to heart. I loved my experience at Love's great food and wonderful staff. The chowder was amazing and the best I've had. Very well cooked and perfectly seasoned. I loved the great drinks and the waiter I had was very attentive and knowledgeable in all the menu items. One of the best service I can remember. If you want the best fish in Brighton just go here once and you will see the great food.

We went to Love's last night and it was fantastic. The fish was gorgeous, the staff were friendly and the owner was bubbly and welcoming. We are definately going again! :-)

My partner and I tried this restaurant out after having seen it on Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, what can I say ... it was fantastic, the fish and chips were so tasty and as for the peas ... loved them!!! Highly recommended, we will be going back again.

After watching Ramsay's nightmare about Ruby tate's the kitchen and food shown looked appalling! (lobster pre cooked and oysters opened etc)..however, it did look very good after the make over and now named Love's restaurant the fish and chips looked beautifull and I shall be visiting soon.

My partner and I had a wonderful night at Ruby Tates; we went for our anniversary dinner as friends had recommended it to us. The food and service was really good, we had oysters to start, a fruit de mar for two and cheese board to follow, unbelievable, we can?t recommend this restaurant too highly, if you want to celebrate an occasion you cant go wrong here.
