Good Place If You Can Get A Table!!I cant complain about the food at this place, it is good. However, the staff are miserable and at busy times can be quite rude. You cant book a table and at weekends which is a nightmare! Unless you arrive very early or are a local/friend (this really pees me off) you have a very limited chance of a table. In a group more than 4, you probably have no real chance unless it is quiet and again your are very early. If they have got room on the list, be prepared for a 2 hour wait and an expensive bar bill, you will also be to sloshed to enjoy the food. If you are planning a night out i would probably opt for a restaurant where you can book. |

Nasty People At The Ginger PigI eat at the Ginger Pig once in a while. At first,it was OK, but last time I was there I felt distinctly uncomfortable with the other people in there who were dining. It would seem to me that it has become the epi-centre for the nouveau, brash, fake-tan wives of Hove who are loud, brash and generally ignorant.I don't feel comfortable being in the same restaurant as them. So I won't be going again. |

| Went for lunch on Monday to The Ginger Pig. We were one of only 5 tables in the whole place! With so few people in there, the place lacked atmosphere and felt like a morgue. Food was OK but the staff looked bored and uninterested-maybe because it was so quiet?? | |

| We went on a Wednesday night and were seated straight away ( a rare thing I'm told), The smoked haddock with buttered mash, spinach and a poached egg was good but the fish was small. I wished I'd had the lamb like the lady next to me - it looked great. My husband had duck which he thoroughly enjoyed. We both had cheese which was excellent. Staff were efficient and very pleasant. | |

Sunday LunchRoast beef on a Sunday is about as good as it can be - and served by efficient, smiling staff. Not cheap, bu worth every penny. |

| We attended the Gingerpig last night and had a fantastic experience. The food was outstanding, the venue had a fantastic buzz and we found all the staff to be very warm, very helpful and very professional. Combine this with the very reasonable prices for food of this quality and this amounted to a really wonderful night. Thank you Gingerpig. | |

| We found the Ginger Pig to be very hospitable. It is nice to find a warm welcome at a clean and tidy venue. The pubs are to die for. Service good. We also found the staff friendly, helpful and child friendly. Who could ask for more. | |

Our first visit and were looking forward to our Sunday lunch. No one greeted us on arrival so found a very polite young lady who, above the mega decibels from the loud music and the crowds having to shout at each other to hold any sort of conversation, took our name and informed us there would be an hour's wait for a table. Her estimate of an hour turned out to be spot on. When eventually seated at the table we discovered that a limited choice menu applies on Sundays. Having previously checked out (and been impressed by) the sample menu shown on the Ginger Pig website, the starter and traditional roast main course options were a disappointment. When I remarked to the waiter that it would be informative to point out the limited Sunday lunch menu on the website, he rudely answered along the lines "there are lots of things we could put on the website like we have more than enough customers every Sunday so don't bother coming if you don't like what we offer!" The goats cheese salad starter was sort of OK. The single, thick cut slice of beef was tasty but the yorkshire pudding was burnt on the bottom but pale and soggy on top. The vegetables were luke warm. We passed on the deserts and paid the bill, happy to leave this noisy establishment for good. |

WednesdayThe food was delicious and well presented however the evening was marred by the attitude of the staff. On arrival, we waited for a long time before we were even acknowledged never mind a greeting. The waiting staff were arrogant and surly. We both agreed that had it not been a special occasion we would have left without placing an order. It is a great pity that a restaurant with delicious food and pleasant surroundings is ruined by staff who make you feel uncomfortable. I would not go back and would not recommend. |

| Just been down the Ginger Pig early on a winters evening. First visit having read many a review the crab tart starter was fantastic, the dover sole was beautifully cooked and the butter sauces for both were exceptionaly light and full of flavour and a good portion. The saddle of boar had a unique taste that was succulent and beautifully cooked. wine list varied and well priced and last but not least the staff relaxed and helpful, great food on our doorstep, cheers. | |
