My husband and I are brand new to Brighton and love alternative food - as we walked the Street
we decided this place had the right look and decor for an evening meal. We were not disappointed
with the service which was great, the meals arrived promptly and the wine selection was plenty -
We will definately be back....

Highly recommended. Many places sell Thai food in Brighton but few are as good as Sawadee; Only the Office and The Pond come close.

We chose Sawadee for a quick early evening meal. At 6pm we were the only customers, hence the service was very attentive. We were given prawn crackers whilst we chose our order from the extensive menu. Eventually, we both plumped for the mixed starter platter and the Thai curries (one red, one green). The starter platter was fine, if a little greasy as all the food was deep fried it seemed. The main course arrived promptly and tasted good, but was served luke warm. The steamed jasmine rice was stuck together in big lumps. All the food was served on ice cold chipped plates and bowls. We were in a rush, so we didnt have time to complain. We couldnt fault the service (we shouldnt have to with 3 waitresses for the 2 of us!), but there really is no excuse for not serving food at the correct temperature in an empty restaurant. The chipped and cracked plates and bowls really need sorting out. It's about time the owners spent some money on this place.

Thank you for your good comments about our service. As you rightly say, there would have been three waiting staff when you came in at six o?clock; the restaurant gets very busy later in the evening and we need that level of staffing. A lot of Thai starters (and some of the whole fish dishes) are indeed deep fried. However our menu does offer alternatives such as the grilled marinated chicken skewers (chicken satay) and grilled mushroom skewers, sliced grilled beef with chilli dressing, or grilled chicken marinated in honey and herbs. Perhaps one of the waitresses could have advised you ? they are there to help.

Cold plates (which cooled your curries) and lumpy rice are obviously faults and they would have been promptly replaced had you spoken to one of the three waiting staff at the time. Any chipped crocks? ? all checked, and gone.
