Girls On Top Foam Party Nov 2008Suprisingly Wicked night at Revenge with their foam party last week, everybody gettin hot n soapy on the dance floor and some nice guys in just shorts too! The other reviewers here are pretty right about club generally though, it should be free to get in on the nights they aint busy like Tues/Weds and don't bother with Friday night at all unless you like watching a really utterly mindbogglingly cr*p drag act with the lollipop hags, it's pathetic, Legends do Drag much better up the road on a Sunday.Maybe they've run outa cash cos they haven't spent much on improving the place since I been here, same old stuff as years n years back, hope they manage to redo the place cos its a good layout and a decent size, better than Legends club up the road, altho the Legends bar is fantastic in comparison to Revenge, well worth going there and cos it's free to get into club all wk, go to Revenge first and if it's sh*t, go to Legends and carry on there, I've done that a few times with mates. Anyways, I'd give it 7/10 for layout, and 6-7/10 for Thurs n Sat nights, 0/10 for Friday!!! |

RevengeI do have to agree with the number of reviews on here with regards to revenge. I'm not sure if they have now just given up on the club or they got to big for their boots and thought people would not only pay for drinks but also pay to get into the dive? To charge on a weekday night to get into a club with no more than 20 people in it is MAD! Can they not see if they gave free entry they would have more people in, sell more drinks, people would stay longer and meet there friends and would not be leaving bad reviews on this site which i belive is the biggest directory of shops, pubs, clubs in brighton? Totally mad and i hope the credit crunch bites them in the ass to make them remove the entry fee. Also.............. if you pay to get in you have to really stay to get your moneys worth, yet if they didt charge you could pop in a few times a week for a drink!!! It looks like you have not listened to any of the other reviews on here as your still charging to get in so i suppose you will not listen to mine but worth a try.As the previous reviews say 'No one does crap like revenge and there right!!! Save your money and spend it it one of the other clubs which offer free entry like Legends, the Gheto ect. They dont deserve it. |

Wednesday NightA total nightmare!!! Well Worth a miss. To many other great nightclubs in brighton to be visiting this dump. Paid £4 to get into an empty night club, not one other person in it, then mugged £9.70 for two single drinks. Place was dirty from the first step in the door. Tourist coming to brighton? Dont waste your hard earned money on rubbish like this. Even the door staff agreed it was a total waste of money on the way out! If this is what brighton is coming to i want out! Complete greed! A GAY club owned by a straight man doesnt work. Complete and utter greed! DO NOT VISIT!!! YOU WILL FEEL MUGGED AFTER! Give me a refund! |

Kinky Dangerous 11th Oct 2008Sorta agree with the previous comments, it's crying out desperately for a refurb, Saturday night is busiest and a pretty good mix of people, 90% gay I'd say with 10% straight friends, oh and some cute blokes with their tops off!I did a scout round on the web, and found out they just got permission to have drinks up there till midnight on the planned roof terrace, I guess that's why they ain't done anything yet. Hope they totally revamp the club at the same time, cos it really is a bit mankyn tired, and I've been down to Brighton loadsa times over past 7 yrs and it hasn't been decorated at all in that time as far as I can tell. Get your fingers out club owners, it's well manky compared to other gay clubs! Have to agree with the funniest comment on here "nobody does crap like Revenge!" almost split my sides! |

Thursday N Saturday October 2008Club Revenge (over the head like a baby seal)... please! I used to go quite a lot, but it does seem that the new owners of Revenge (Stagfleet Ltd) aren't investing the money in this club after buying it in 2004 from Tony Chapman.Very little appears to have changed on the surface, a quick troll of the net will bring up "a new roof", "a new air con unit" blah blah blah, so what? What clubbers pay for is a great entertainment experience, brilliant decor, quality fittings, and to be frank, Revenge is sorely lacking in all these. I have been going there on & off for over 10 years now (poor me!) as well as other gay/gay friendly clubs in Brighton, and it really does not compare to other major venues which are to my mind SIGNIFICANTLY better furnished. Revenge did have plans to build a large 100+ square metre roof terrace approved in 2007, but NOTHING appears to have happened in the club, apart from the construction of a VERY cheap looking new mens cloakroom , very likely using the old urinals from the old gents! They really ought to get their plans for the club moving pronto, as to be honest, it was a brilliant venue and almost always busy when I moved here in 1996! On the plus side, I have to say despite some comments here, that any hen parties that go in are in the majority very well behaved, the odd one or two aren't, the bar and door staff are on the whole very friendly, and the busy nights of the week seem to be Thursday (often packed and very young 18 - 22 mostly, with good music), and Saturday (which is probably the busiest and best night of the week). However avoid Friday (this used to be a very busy night but not now) night until they get rid of the absolutely cr*p lollipop girls, who are a 3 man drag act who shouldn't even be playing at your local bingo hall let alone a "top" gay club, their routine is incredibly tired, and word for word, generally hasnt changed in 12 years!! IT's absolute rubbish, lots of my friends quit going cos of this. Overall, take it for what it is, a great layout, but a bit shabby and rundown, with good music on Thurs n sat, friendly staff, but could do with a good kick up the arse to get it back on top! Ciao. |

| An absolutly abysmal club. Really is the armpit of Brighton. It's screaming out for a COMPLETE refurb; it's so run-down and drab inside. The owners obviously think that because it's the only major gay club in Brighton, they don't need to update and refresh it. Also too many straight people in there, and too many underage people. Really needs some TLC. | |

I go to revenge randomly when im not at work next day (lol)....... I like to give balanced feedback so I will!.......On the negative side the place needs a fresh new / crisp refurb and a tightening up on the door policy...its become hen night city at weekends!!!!.....it needs absolute identity as A GAY club or it will slip down a sad slope...Brigthon has ample staright clubs. I realise that a refurb is a major capital expenditure but its overdue and comprimising on quality...the carpet on the stairs is threadbare and still has lager in it from 1997 when I first came to Brighton!!!!!...................It needs a total revamp ..maybe a relaunch to realign itself as the main player on the gay scene...Im hoping Jeremy Joseph will bring A G-A-Y to Brighton---it wouild be a cocept that would go down a storm now....Brighton needs more competition between clubs to maintain quality and ensure absolute customer focus. On a positive note--The staff at revenge are great and after a while yopu feel 'one of the family' so will continue to support them ...However justa s a clubber NOT a businessman...I see a major void in the market waiting to be exploited......... | Im affraid this place has now had its day. How they can charge to get into a half empty, dirty night club full of straight people is beyond me! If they made it free to get in you will find alot more people would go but its not worth paying to get into. To any other good places to go in brighton now! | |

Whilst Revenge is a little rough around the egdes, I don't think it is significantly worse than most nightclubs. My main complaint is the number of straight girls that they let in. As I arrived at 11.30pm, there was a hen party of 10 girls all in silly hats in front of me in the queue. They were told that they could enter the club if they took off their silly hats, which they did. At no point did the bouncer mention to them that they were entering a gay club. Inside the club, I found myself on the dancefloor and everybody around me was drunk, straight, young and female. Yes the music is great, but it needs a little more than that for me to keep going every weekend. If I wanted to dance in a club full of straight people, I would go to a straight club. The management only seems to be interested in making money rather than serving the local gay community now- if it wasn't for the straight girls the place would be half empty. |
